Bryan Sullivan; a development manager at SPI Dynamics has a great article on Configurations of application security for ASP.NET Web-based applications at wwwcoder.com. I believe this a must read for any serious .NET developer who is new to ASP.NET Development.

Update: The Second part of this tutorial has ust been published on wwwcoder.com, Check it out.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-05-18T15:40:58Z</dcterms:modified>

SilverLight 1.0 Beta SDK Oddities

Technorati tags: SilverLight, AVG Free

Last night I finally managed to download the installer, SDK & all video's on the brand new Silver Light community Site. Since I live in Pakistan (where 56K dialup is the norm); downloading content to view offline makes sense. The video on the Silver Light community Site is encoded using the a new "Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile" Codec, which sadly is not compatible with Windows Media Player 9. So any one thinking about downloading the Video from the Silver Light community Site should first upgrade his Windows Media Player to Version 11.
Another major problem I encountered with the SilverLight 1.0 Beta SDK is with the Default.html.js file in the samples folder. The naming of this file causes the anti virus programs (AVG Free) to throw a warning.
This is particularly irritating and I have not been able to turn it off. If any one knows how to disable this in AVG free, please let me know. This particular file contains the method call that initializes the Silverlight plug-in on the containing HTML page (default.html), but so far I have not been able to open the file to verify the truth of this statement (It keeps giving me access denied). If some one else is also having the same problem, I would suggest going to the Silver Light Forum and posting your comments in this thread.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-05-03T07:06:26Z</dcterms:modified>
